Mongolia is a vast landlocked country about the size of France, Germany, Poland and Italy combined! It’s big sky country which has largely escaped the modern world as traditional nomadic life still very much exists today outside of Ulaanbaatar. Mongolia is THE destination for the intrepid traveller and nature lovers – from the vast stepps, plentiful wildlife, rugged mountains and endless plains. There’s something uniquely special about even being in Mongolia, so long considered a by-word for remoteness, yet the local nomadic herders who invite you to stay in their Yurts are anything but distant. Their warmth and welcoming spirit makes for a special experience in a far flung corner of the world.
With daily flights, Mongolia and Ulaanbaator are easier than ever to get too, but I much prefer to get there via the quintessential intrepid train journey; the Trans-Mongolian Railway!
